Highly recommended book for Telugu learners!:
When it comes to learning Telugu, there aren’t many resources available in the market. When I was searching for a book on Amazon, I could hardly find anything. This book however, fits what I needed. It provides tons of information and exercises at the end of the each chapter and audio for each and every Telugu transliteration, which is a bonus for me. I find this book to be fun and interesting. Also, if you are planning to learn the language from just this book alone, you wont be able to reach complete fluency. This book serves as a guide and you can begin to make basic Telugu sentence with it. To be more fluent You should find a native Telugu speaker to practice more.

    Simple and Effective:
I have used the textbook written by the same author for the Tamil language, and this book has the same simple but very effective approach. The essential vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation guide, exercises and solutions and clear examples make it a very straightforward learning process. Exactly what a beginner needs.

You can clearly sense the author’s experience of teaching students in the way the book is constructed.

    Easy learn spoken telugu:
Spoken Telugu for Absolute Beginners. It’s fantastic!

When I started, I honestly thought I would never learn Telugu or the pronunciation. It was so bewildering. But this book really makes it simple. It breaks things down and makes everything easy and clear. The Vocabularies, sentences and Role play scenarios are a great addition.

    Summary:

Pros: easy to use, learner friendly, Telugu transliteration and audio, Memrise course for learning vocabularies and sentences, holds your hand throughout the journey of learning Telugu.

Cons: this isn’t really a con but you can only make Telugu sentences with 4-5 words, to be more fluent you need to keep practising. I firmly believe that this is the best book to begin with.

Final point: get the paperback book! It’s so much easier flicking through pages.

    A long awaited Telugu book:
I just bought this book ‘Spoken Telugu for absolue beginners’ and would like to commend the author for his valuable work. This is the kind of text book for Telugu that was long awaited. I have been learning telugu for some years and have always felt the need of a really good text book. Even though there are some books out there, but none of these seemed to be complete in itself. It looks like a lot of hard work has gone in to the planning and designing of the contents of this book. The chapters are not too long and the subject of each is centered around real life daily communications and situations. Each chapter has an exercise for practice along with the related vocabularies at the end of the book. The first few chapters focus on the pronunciation and basic grammar making it a smooth sail for me. There are three additional sections with vocabularies, sentences and role play scenarios with English-Telugu and literal transliteration. The writer have made this book more attractive to learners by adding answer keys to the practice exercises. Keys are very helpful to me and I like them a lot. This combo of text book with exercises and keys are the kind of work that was very much needed for Telugu. For Telugu learners, this is a valuable gift from the authors and this is going to make the learning experience of Telugu an attractive and easier one. Thanks to the author Sanjay D for this great contribution to the world of Telugu learning.
    Kudos to the author.

    Great Compendious Telugu Grammar Compendium!:
I enjoyed the gentle introduction to tenses and aspect. The pace isn’t too fast and the explanations are succinct. The book is thick but that’s because he tries to include as much of Telugu grammar as possible .I appreciate the verb and noun charts, especially considering there are so many irregulars. A few example sentences are given with each new grammar concept. I believe Sanjay when he says that once you finish this book you can be conversational in Telugu. He should write for Routledge.

No actual Telugu writing, sound files a little tricky, but we got them going.:
I was excited to see this book when there is such a lack of materials for this important and old language. The alphabet is not taught in this book, and Latin letters are used throughout. The sound files were hard to get going but the author is available and approachable and made the link work for me.

Still I think it would be good if the sound was made available as a separate audiobook on Audible, I don’t mind paying a credit to have the convenience of the sound on Audible with all my other courses. Please consider this approach.

The Best Telugu Language Learning Book I’ve Found:
This book is excellent for learning Telugu. It’s a unique language learning book that has a very detailed/thorough explanation of the grammar but doesn’t make you bored while learning. You can learn in a fast and easy way the important topics you need to know to speak the language. As you work through the lessons you feel like your getting one on one or face to face instruction. The free audio that comes with the book is really helpful, it adds a lot to the learning experience and the exercises in the book really help you memorize what you’ve learned. I definitely recommend it!

Excellent book that also has supporting audio/digital components:
After not being able to find ANY Telugu resources for so long, I was very excited to see this book come out. I was also very impressed when I go the book and started reading it, because it is friendly, thorough, and well-organized. In addition to providing a good overview of Telugu grammar and basic vocabulary, the author has created audio and Memrise decks to go with the book and facilitate learning the material. He even offers music and movie recommendations for those wanting exposure to the language while they are learning. I am very happy with this book, and highly recommend it to anyone getting started with Telugu.

    Wonderful:
It’s very difficult to find reliable resources for Telugu. The translations have been accurate and the book has been easy to understand. The extra audio and flashcard like review on the app has been very helpful. I had to contact the author with an issue with the audio. He replied very quickly and addressed the issue. Everything is working again! I am very very happy with this purchase.

ESSENTIAL for native English speakers learning Telugu:
Have you ever tried to learn Telugu but felt frustrated due to (1) being unable to understand patterns in the language (2) a lack of learning resources, and/or (3) the disconnect between formal Telugu that is typically taught and colloquial Telugu? If so, THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU. Are you a brand new Telugu learner who does not want to deal with the frustrations that the rest of us have encountered? If so, THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU.

I cannot even begin to describe how valuable and helpful this book is. If you are a native English speaker who wants to learn spoken Telugu and have real conversations with native speakers, this book is absolutely essential. I have not found any other resource that even comes close (and trust me, I have spent countless hours, days, and weeks looking).

The authors truly understand the confusions that native English speakers have when learning Telugu, so they are able to explain things very simply from an English-speaker’s perspective. A few reviewers have mentioned that there are a few mistakes in the book, which I noticed as well, but these are very, very minor and do not take away from the overall meaning and understanding. This is a truly EXCELLENT resource for learning Telugu!!
